Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
12 ounce loaf egg bread with crust, cut into 3/4 inch cubes 7 large eggs 2 1/2 cups milk 1/2 cup sugar 2 tsp. vanilla extract 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted
Directions
Butter the inside of an 11x7 inch baking dish. Place the bread cubes in the prepared dish. Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg in a medium bowl. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes. Press down on the bread lightly to absorb liquid. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake bread pudding 40 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 35 minutes until pudding is puffed and golden. Spoon pudding onto plates and serve.
Serves 6 to 8.
