Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Torte: 1/2 cup dark corn syrup 1/2 cup butter 5 ounces chopped semisweet chocolate 3/4 cup sugar 3 large eggs 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 cup all purpose flour 1 cup chopped walnuts
Chocolate Glaze: 3 ounces chopped semisweet chocolate 1 tbsp. butter 2 tbsp. dark corn syrup 1 tsp. milk
Directions
For Torte: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9 inch round cake pan. Combine butter and corn syrup in a large saucepan and heat to a boil over medium high heat, stirring occasionally. Remove pan from the heat and stir in chocolate until melted. Stir in sugar. Stir in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla, flour and walnuts and mix well. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake torte about 30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool torte 10 minuites in the pan. Invert torte onto a rack and remove pan. Cool torte completely.
For Glaze: Combine chocolate and butter in a small saucepan and melt over low heat, stirring frequently. Remove pan from heat and stir in corn syrup and milk. Pour glaze over the top of the cooled torte and spread over sides. Let stand 1 hour before serving.
Serves 8.
