Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
4 1/2 cups uncooked quick cooking oats 1 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup melted butter 1/2 cup light corn syrup 1 tbsp. vanilla extract 1/4 tsp. salt 12 ounce package semisweet chocolate chips 2/3 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease the inside of a 15x10 inch jelly roll pan. Mix together oats, brown sugar, melted butter, corn syrup and salt in a large bowl until well blended. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake about 18 to 20 minutes until browned and bubbly. Remove the pan from the oven and immediately sprinkle the baked toffee evenly with the chocolate chips. Let stand 10 minutes. Spread the melted chocolate chips evenly with a spatula. Sprinkle the nuts evenly over the chocolate. Transfer pan to a rack and cool completely. Cut into bars. Store in a airtight container in a cool place.
Makes about 4 dozen bars.
