1/2 cup diced butter 3 ounces chopped unsweetened chocolate 2 large eggs 1 1/4 cups sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 3 tbsp. instant coffee powder 2 tbsp. Kahlua 3/4 cup all purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour a 9 inch square baking pan. Combine butter and chocolate in a small saucepan. Cook, stirring, over low heat until smooth. Remove pan from the heat and cool to room temperature. Beat together eggs, sugar, vanilla, coffee powder and Kahlua in a large bowl until thick and pale. Beat in melted chocolate mixture. Sift together flour and baking powder into a small bowl. Stir in salt. Beat flour mixture into the batter until well blended. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Bake brownies 30 to 35 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs. Transfer brownies to a rack and cool completely. Slice into squares and serve.
