Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1/2 cup sugar 2 tbsp. cornstarch pinch salt 2 1/4 cups whole milk 5 large egg yolks, beaten to blend 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped finely 2 tbsp. butter 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions
Sift cornstarch and stir in sugar and salt. Whisk in yolks. Bring milk to a boil. Gradually whisk hot milk into yolk mixture. Return to pan and cook, stirring, until thickened, approx. 8 to 10 minutes. Take off heat and whisk in chocolate until smooth. Stir in butter and vanilla. Portion into serving dishes. Press plastic wrap onto surface of pudding and cool to room temperature. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.
Serves 4 to 6.
