Ingredients   (view qty in metric system instead)
3 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp. finely grated orange peel
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
pinch salt
8 slices day old cinnamon raisin bread
2 tbsp. butter, divided
powdered sugar

Directions
Whisk together eggs, milk, orange peel, vanilla and salt in a large bowl. Arrange the cinnamon raisin bread slices in the bottom of a shallow baking dish. Pour the egg mixture over the bread slices. Let bread soak 5 minutes. Meanwhile, melt 1 tbsp. butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 4 slices of the soaked cinnamon raisin bread to the skillet and cook about 2 minutes per side until the bread is browned. Transfer the French toast to a serving plate. Repeat cooking with the remaining 1 tbsp. butter and 4 bread slices. Sift powdered sugar over the French toast and serve immediately.

Serves 4.
