Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped 1 tbsp. instant coffee granules 1 tbsp. boiling water 3/4 cup all purpose flour 3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup butter, room temperature 2 large eggs vanilla frosting food coloring assorted Christmas candies and sprinkles
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8 inch square baking pan. Place chocolate in a small saucepan. Melt, stirring, over low heat until smooth. Stir together coffee granules and boiling water in a small cup until dissolved. Stir together flour, cinnamon and baking powder and salt in a small bowl. Beat together sugar and butter in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Beat in the melted chocolate and the coffee mixture. Add the flour mixture. Beat until just blended. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan. Bake brownies about 30 to 35 minutes until the center is set. Transfer brownies to a rack and cool completely.
Cut brownies into shapes with 2 inch, Christmas themed, cookie cutters. Ice the brownies with tinted frosting and decorate with candies and sprinkles.
Makes about 8 brownies.
