Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
six 1 inch thick slices French bread 4 ounces chopped semisweet chocolate 3 large eggs 1 cup milk 3 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. butter, melted powdered sugar
Directions
Butter an 8 inch square baking dish. Cut a pocket in the side of each bread slice to within 1/4 inch of bottom crust. Stuff chopped chocolate into pockets and press edges of bread together to seal. Place the stuffed bread slices in the prepared dish. Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and salt in a medium bowl. Pour milk mixture over the bread and let soak 10 minutes. Turn the bread slices over. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours until most of milk mixture is absorbed. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Remove the dish with the bread from the refrigerator and let stand 15 minutes. Drizzle the melted butter over the bread. Bake French toast 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown and set. Sift powdered sugar over French toast and serve.
