Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips 10 tbsp. butter, softened 2 cups sugar 4 large eggs 1 1/3 cup plus 3 tbsp. cake flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 3/4 cup chopped pecans 1/2 tsp. almond extract 6 ounces cream cheese, softened 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Oil a 13x9 inch baking pan and line bottom with wax paper. Combine chocolate and 6 tbsp. butter in a medium saucepan. Cook, stirring, over low heat until smooth. Remove pan from the heat and cool chocolate 10 minutes. Beat together 1 1/4 cups sugar and 3 eggs until light and fluffy. Beat in 1 1/2 cups flour, baking powder and salt until well blended. Stir in melted chocolate, pecans and almond extract. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Beat cream cheese, 3/4 cup sugar and 4 tbsp. butter in a medium bowl until smooth. Beat in remaining egg and vanilla. Stir in remaining 3 tbsp. flour. Spread cream cheese mixture over chocolate batter. Swirl batters together with the tip of a knife. Bake brownies about 40 minutes until top id golden brown and a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs. Transfer pan to a rack and cool brownies completely. Remove brownies from pan and invert. Discard wax paper and cut brownies into squares.
Makes about 2 1/2 dozen brownies.
