Ingredients   (view qty in metric system instead)
2 medium onions, thinly
sliced
2 1/2 to 3 lbs broiler
fryer chicken, cut up
2 cloves garlic minced
1 lb. can tomatoes
1 8oz can tomatoe sauce
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 to 2 tsp oregano leaves,
crushed
1/2 tsp basil, crushed
1/2 tsp celery seed optional
1 bay leaf
1/4 cup dry white wine

Directions
Place sliced onions on bottom of slow cooker. Add chicken pieces, minced garlic, tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, pepper, herbs and white wine. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or high for 2 1/2 to 4 hours.

Serve chicken pieces with sauce over hot, buttered pasta.

Recipe can be doubled for a 4 1/2 quart slow cooker.
