Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
6 Tbsp. sugar 1/4 cup butter 2 cups white wine vinegar 1 3/4 cups minced onion 1/2 cup white wine 1 Tbsp. worcestershire 1/4 Tsp. salt 1/4 Tsp. pepper 8 boneless, skinless chicken breasts 1/2 cup all purpose flour 1/4 cup butter 1/2 pound sliced gruyere cheese
Directions
Cook sugar in heavy pan over low heat until golden brown. Stir in 1/4 cup butter until melted. Add vinegar and stir well. Bring to a boil, stirring. Add onions and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occassionally. Add wine, worcestershire, salt and pepper and simmer 3 minutes. Strain and cool. Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Coat chicken with flour and brown in 1/4 cup butter until golden. Cut chicken almost in 1/2 horizontally and fill with sliced cheese. Place chicken in baking pan and cover with sauce. Bake 5 to 8 minutes until sauce is hot and cheese is melted.
