Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
2 cups all purpose flour 1 tbsp.+1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. solid vegetable shortening 3/4 cup milk 3/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Sift together flour and baking powder in a large bowl. Stir in salt. Cut in shortening. Add milk and toss dough with a fork just until moistened. Stir in cheese. Form dough into a ball. Transfer to a floured board and knead 6 to 8 times by hand. Roll dough out to 1/2 inch thick. Cut rounds with a 2 inch biscuit cutter. Transfer dough rounds to a baking sheet and bake until lightly browned, 8 to 10 minutes.
Makes twelve 2 inch biscuits.
