Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Ribbon Filling: 1 large egg white, beaten to blend 1 tbsp. water 2 slices white bread, torn into small pieces 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Meat Loaf: 3 slices white bread, torn into small pieces 1 cup milk 1 1/2 pounds ground beef 1 large egg yolk 1/4 cup minced onion 1 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/4 tsp. ground dry mustard 1/4 tsp. ground dried sage 1/4 tsp. celery salt 1/4 tsp. garlic salt 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
Directions
For Filling: Whisk together egg white and water in a medium bowl. Add bread and cheese and toss until moistened and combined.
For Meat Loaf: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease the inside of a 9x5 inch loaf pan. Stir together torn bread and milk in a large bowl until moistened. Mix in ground beef, egg yolk, onion, salt, pepper, dry mustard, sage, celery salt, garlic salt and Worcestershire until well combined. Pat half of the beef mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Cover beef with the prepared Cheddar filling. Cover filling with the remainder of the beef mixture. Bake about 90 minutes until meat loaf is cooked through.
Serves 6 to 8.
