Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1/4 cup olive oil 1 large onion, peeled and chopped 2 large cloves garlic, peeled and chopped 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder two 16 ounce cans black beans, drained 1 cup water 1 bay leaf 1 tbsp. red wine vinegar 1/2 tsp. Tabasco sauce 1/8 tsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper
Directions
Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook about 5 minutes until softened, stirring frequently. Add the garlic and chili powder vand stir 1 minute. Add the beans, water and bay leaf. Reduce the heat to medium low and simmer the beans about 20 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally. Discard the bay leaf. Stir in the vinegar, Tabasco, sugar, salt and pepper and simmer 2 minutes. Serve the beans hot or cold.
Serves 4 to 6.
