Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1 cup all purpose flour 2/3 cup sugar 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. ground cloves 1/2 cup milk 4 medium pears, cored, peeled and diced or a 16 ounce can pears, drained and diced 1/2 cup chopped pecans 3/4 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup boiling water 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
Directions
Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt and cloves in a large bowl. Stir in milk until smooth. Add pears and pecans. Transfer batter to a ungreased 2 quart casserole dish. Stir together brown sugar, boiling water and butter or margarine in a medium bowl and pour evenly over top of batter in casserole dish. Bake 45 minutes until top springs back when pressed. Serve immediately with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.
Serves 6 to 8.
