Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
14 ounce package caramels, unwrapped 1/3 cup milk 2 cups all purpose flour 2 cups oats 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 large egg 1 cup butter, softened 6 ounce package semisweet chocolate chips 1 cup chopped dry roasted peanuts
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13x9 inch baking pan. Combine caramels and milk in a medium saucepan over low heat. Stir until caramels are melted and smooth. Remove the pan from the heat. Stir together flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, salt and egg in a large bowl. Cut in softened butter until mixture is crumbly. Press half of the mixture in the bottom of the prepared pan and bake 10 minutes. Remove pan from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped peanuts over crust. Drizzle the melted caramel mixture over. Sprinkle remaining crumble mixture evenly over the caramel. Bake about 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown. Transfer pan to a rack and cool 30 minutes. Run a knife around the edges of the pan to loosen sides of bars. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
Makes about 2 1/2 dozen bars.
