Ingredients   (view qty in metric system instead)
6 slices day-old bread cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 cup hot water
1 cup brown sugar
4 large eggs, beaten to blend
2 cups warmed milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp. salt

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place bread in a 2 quart baking dish. Stir together water and brown sugar and pour over bread. Stir together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and salt. Pour over bread. Bake 50 to 60 minutes until a tester comes out clean. Serve warm or cold.

Serves 6 to 8.
