Canadian Bacon and Cheese French Toast Sandwiches

Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
12 slices Canadian bacon 6 slices sharp Cheddar cheese twelve, 1/2 inch thick, slices French bread 1/4 cup milk 1/2 cup heavy or whipping cream 3 tbsp. butter 6 tbsp. strawberry preserves
Directions
Place 2 slices of the Canadian bacon and 1 slice Cheddar on each of 6 slices of the bread. Top with the remaining bread slices. Whisk together the milk and cream in a pie plate until well combined. Dip each sandwich in the milk mixture and transfer to a plate. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sandwiches to the skillet and cook about 3 to 4 minutes per side until the bread is lightly browned. Divide sandwiches between plates. Top each sandwich with 1 tbsp. of the strawberry preserves. Serve immediately.
Makes 6 sandwiches.
