Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1 large egg 1 cup brown sugar 1 1/2 tbsp. melted butter 2 cups all purpose flour 3/4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 1 cup buttermilk 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8 inch loaf pan. Beat together egg and brown sugar in a large bowl until smooth. Add butter and beat to blend. Sift together flour, baking powder and baking soda in a small bowl. Stir in salt. Add flour mixture to batter alternately with buttermilk in 2 additions. Beat until well mixed. Stir in nuts. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes in pan. Invert loaf onto a rack and cool completely.
Makes 1 loaf.
