Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1 cup whole wheat flour 2 tbsp. wheat germ 2 tbsp. oat bran 2 tsp. baking soda 2 tbsp. butter or olive oil 1 1/2 cups buttermilk or unflavored yogurt 1 large egg, beaten to blend 1 tbsp. maple syrup 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Directions
Stir together flour, wheat germ, bran and baking soda. Mix together butter or oil, buttermilk or yogurt, egg and maple syrup. Stir into dry ingredients by hand until well combined. Stir in walnuts. Heat waffle iron. Fill with batter and cook until steam stops and waffles are crisp. Serve with applesauce or maple flavored yogurt if desired.
Makes approx. 6 waffles.
