Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1 cup butter 8 ounces chopped bittersweet chocolate 4 large eggs 1/4 tsp. salt 1 cup dark brown sugar 1 cup granulated sugar 2 tsp. vanilla extract 1 cup all purpose flour 1/2 cup chopped walnuts(optional)
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 13x9 inch baking pan. Line the bottom of the pan with parchment. Butter parchment. Combine butter and chocolate in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Melt and stir until smooth. Remove melted chocolate mixture from over water and let cool a few minutes. Meanwhile, whisk eggs to blend in a large bowl. Whisk in salt, both sugars, vanilla and melted chocolate mixture. Fold in flour until just combined. Stir in walnuts if desired. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake 35 to 40 minutes until brownies are set and beginning to crack on top. Transfer pan to a rack and cool completely. Cut brownies into squares. Store at room temperature in an airtight container.
Makes about 2 dozen brownies.
