Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
sixteen 1/2 inch thick slices crusty French or Italian bread 4 large eggs 2 cups milk 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese 2 tsp. Dijon mustard 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 4 green onions, thinly sliced 4 ounces crisp cooked bacon, crumbled 1 medium tomato, cored, seeded and chopped
Directions
Butter a 6 cup shallow baking dish. Line the bottom of the dish with the bread slices. Whisk together eggs, milk, Parmesan, Dijon, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Pour mixture over bread slices. Press down on bread to submerge. Let stand 15 minutes at room temperature or cover and refrigerate overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sprinkle green onions over top of bread. Bake 25 minutes. Sprinkle bacon and tomato over top of strata. Bake about 10 minutes longer until strata is puffed and edges are gold. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Serves 4 to 6.
