Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
2 1/2 cups dry breadcrumbs 1/2 cup melted butter 2 pounds granny smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced 3/4 cup brown sugar 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 cup bourbon
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Butter a deep 2 quart casserole or baking dish. Toss breadcrumbs with butter in a medium bowl. Sprinkle 1/3 of crumb mixture over bottom of prepared dish. Toss together apples, sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl. Spread half of apples in dish. Top with half of remaining crumb mixture. Spread remaining apples over then sprinkle with remaining breadcrumbs. Pour bourbon over top. Cover dish tightly with foil. Bake 25 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 45 minutes until apples are tender and topping is crisp. Serve warm or at room temperature. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
Serves 8.
