Latest Recipes Top Recipes Our Friends Home -> Holiday Foods -> Halloween Black Cat Cupcakes Recipe Rating: N/A Printer Friendly Recipe submitted by chefdude7263 Ingredients   (view qty in metric system instead) Cupcakes: 1 package any flavor cake mix Frosting: 1/4 cup egg whites 1 1/2 cups sugar 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1/3 cup water 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 drops orange food coloring or 2 drops each red and yellow food coloring Black Cat Decoration: 1 inch diameter black gumdrops Directions For Cupcakes: Prepare cake mix as for cupcakes according to package directions. Cool completely. For Frosting: Combine egg whites, sugar, cream of tartar and water in the top of a double boiler. Beat 1 minute on high speed. Place over boiling water and beat 7 minutes on high speed. Remove pan from over water. Stir in vanilla. Beat 2 minutes on high speed. Tint with food coloring. Frost cooled cupcakes. For Black Cats: Slice gumdrops horizontally into 3 pieces. Use small rounded slice for the head, largest slice for the body. Cut ears and tail from the remaining slice.
