Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
2 ounces bacon grease 4 ounces finely diced red onion 2 cups water 1/2 cup honey 1 tbsp. tabasco sauce 1/2 cup red wine vinegar 1 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch 2 tbsp. dijon mustard
Directions
Place bacon grease in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook until starting to blacken. Meanwhile whisk together water, honey, tabasco and vinegar. Whisk in cornstarch until well combined. Stir dijon into onions. Add cornstarch mixture. Cook, stirring, until dressing boils and thickens. Remove from heat and transfer to a glass container. Refrigerate until ready to use. To serve: reheat in a double boiler.
Makes about 1 1/2 cups dressing.
