Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
4 cups beer(not dark) 1/4 cup Bavarian mustard 2 tbsp. ketchup 4 large onions, peeled, divided 12 uncooked bratwursts 6 hard rolls or large hot dog buns, split
Directions
Stir together beer, mustard and ketchup in a large pot. Thickly slice 1 onion and add to the beer mixture. Bring to a boil over medium high heat. Add bratwurst and reduce heat to low. Simmer bratwurst 20 minutes, turning occasionally. Meanwhile, prepare grill. Cut the remaining 3 onions into thick slices. Place the onion slices on an oiled grill rack. Drain the bratwurst and transfer to the grill rack. Grill onions and bratwurst about 5 minutes until cooked through. Slice bratwurst in half lengthwise. Stack 4 bratwurst halves on each roll. Top with grilled onions and your favorite condiments and serve immediately.
Serves 6.
