Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
4 thick slices Italian bread 4 slices mozzarella cheese 1 large egg 1/4 cup milk 1 tbsp. butter 1 tbsp. olive oil 1 clove garlic, peeled and smashed
Directions
Make 2 sandwiches with bread and mozzarella slices. Whisk together egg and milk in a shallow bowl until well blended. Heat butter with oil in a medium skillet over medium-low heat. Add garlic to skillet and cook 2 minutes-don't let garlic brown. Discard garlic. Dip sandwiches into egg batter, turning to coat both sides but not saturating bread. Add battered sandwiches to skillet and fry, turning once, until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted. about 3 minutes per side.
Makes 2 sandwiches.
