Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
2 pounds sirloin steak, about 1/2 to 3/4 inches thick 1 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1 tsp. olive oil 1 tbsp. vegetable oil 1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 1/2 tbsp. ketchup 1/2 tsp. sugar 8 large slices French bread or 4 long rolls, sliced lengthwise 2 large tomatoes, sliced 1 large sweet onion, peeled and sliced
Directions
Place sirloin steak in a shallow baking dish. Stir together salt, pepper, olive oil, vegetable oil, Worcestershire, ketchup and sugar in a small bowl. Pour mixture over steak and turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour. Meanwhile, prepare grill. Grill steak 4 to 6 inches over heat to desired doneness. Cut steak into strips and lay them on the bread or rolls. Top with tomato and onion slices and remaining bread slices or roll halves and serve.
Makes 4 sandwiches.
