Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
6 cups all purpose flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tbsp. plus 3/4 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1 1/2 cups cold diced butter 3 cups buttermilk 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese 1 cup cooked, crumbled bacon
Directions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Cut in cold butter until coarse crumbs form. Mix in buttermilk and stir with a fork just until a soft dough forms. Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead 5 to 6 times. Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thick. Sprinkle Cheddar and bacon over center 1/3 of dough. Fold 1/3 of remaining dough over bacon and cheese. Fold remaining 1/3 dough over top. Cut out rounds with a floured 4 inch biscuit cutter. Transfer rounds to a ungreased sheet pan, spacing 1 inch apart. Gather up dough scraps, roll and cut out additional biscuits. Bake biscuits 10 to 12 minutes until light golden brown. Serve biscuits warm.
Makes about 18 biscuits.
