Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
2 cups diced green apples 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled 1 large egg 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease or butter an 8x8 inch baking pan. Stir together apples, sugar, butter and egg in a large bowl to blend. Sift flour, cinnamon and baking soda over. Stir until well mixed. Stir in salt and walnuts. Transfer to the prepared pan. Bake about 45 minutes until brown and crusty on top and a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a rack.
Makes about 12 pieces.
