Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Topping: 1 cup rolled oats 3/4 cup all purpose flour 3/4 cup dark brown sugar 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/2 cup cold butter, diced 3/4 cup chopped toasted walnuts
Filling: 10 large granny smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced 1/4 inch thick 1 1/3 cups fresh cranberries 1/3 cup sugar 2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
Directions
For Topping: Mix together oats, flour, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in a medium bowl. Cut in butter until a coarse meal forms. Cover and refrigerate.
For Filling: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Butter a 12 cup baking dish. Combine apples, cranberries, sugar and lemon juice in a large bowl. Toss to combine. Transfer to prepared dish and sprinkle topping over. Cover with foil and bake 20 minutes. Uncover and bake about 40 minutes until apples are tender and topping is browned. Cool slightly before serving. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.
Serves 6 to 8.
