Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Topping: 3/4 cup all purpose flour 1/3 cup brown sugar 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 cup cold diced butter
Filling: 2 pounds Granny Smith apples, cored, peeled and sliced 1/2 cup raisins 1/4 cup apple juice 1/4 cup brown sugar 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
Directions
For Topping: Combine flour, brown sugar and baking powder in a medium bowl. Add butter and rub with your fingers until moist clumps form.
For Filling: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine apple slices, raisins, apple juice, sugar, cinnamon and cloves in a large saucepan. Cook about 15 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender. Transfer filling to a 9 inch glass pie dish. Sprinkle topping evenly over apples. Bake crisp about 30 minutes until topping is golden brown. Transfer crisp to a rack and cool 10 minutes before serving.
Serves 4 to 6.
