Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Filling: 3 cups fresh blackberries 4 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced 3 tbsp. fresh lemon juice 1/2 cup sugar 4 tbsp. cold butter, diced
Topping: 3/4 cup all purpose flour 3/4 cup brown sugar 1 tsp. ground ginger 6 tbsp. cold butter, diced
Directions
For Filling: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine blackberries, apples, lemon juice, sugar and butter in a large bowl. Toss until well combined. Transfer filling to a 1 1/2 to 2 quart casserole or baking dish. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit. Bake 30 to 35 minutes until the topping is crisp and golden and the filling is bubbly. Transfer crisp to a rack and let cool 20 to 25 minutes. Serve warm.
For Topping: Combine flour, brown sugar, ginger and butter in a medium bowl. Rub with your fingers until coarse crumbs form.
Serves 6 to 8.
