Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
2 sticks (1 cup) butter 2 cups sugar 1 teaspoon soda 1 teaspoon vanilla 3 eggs 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 Tablespoon cocoa
Directions
Melt 2 sticks of butter in the microwave. Add sugar, soda, vanilla, and eggs. Mix thoroughly. (No need for a mixer, it is easy because of the melted butter!) Add flour and blend well. Refrigerate several hours, then roll into a log. I often divide the mixed dough in half before refrigerating and add cocoa to half and blend well. Then after refrigerating dough and rolling logs, I cut each lengthwise 4 times and put the vanilla along side the chocolate dough for a checkerboard effect. The slices show very well on a platter. Bake slices on an ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 8 - 10 minutes.
